Tokyo, Japan 2019

I’ve been trying to convince my family to travel to Japan for the longest time and when they finally agreed to two weeks, I was thrilled and planned our itinerary by the hour. We went to Tokyo for 5 days in total last month. This is my travel diary.

Our Adventure

On Sunday, April 14th, I met my family at Haneda Airport at 7 AM. After picking up their pocket wifi, I took them back to Shinagawa Tobu Hotel (LINK) and then we headed out for Odaiba for the Teamlab Borderless exhibition (LINK). Not many things were opened yet so we had 7/11 food for breakfast.
We went to Senso-ji Temple next where we had some snacks along Nakamise Shopping street and stopped by Ichiran (Asakusa) for a late lunch (LINK). We went back to rest and then had some CoCo Curry (franchise) near the hotel. I had originally planned to visit Akihabara but everyone was tired.
Monday was very eventful. We started the morning at Shibuya (LINK), did typical tourist activities like the famous crossing and exploring the shopping district, and then walked towards Meiji Shrine (LINK).
We walked along Takeshita Street in Harajuku and had Hanamaru Udon for lunch (LINK).
In the afternoon, we trained it to Shinjuku where we had Yamachan for dinner (LINK). The next day we checked out and went to Kyoto, Osaka and then Seoul before flying back into Haneda Airport a week later.
The first day back in Tokyo, we spent it in Shibuya, helping my sister find a pair of Adidas shoes. My parents said they loved Japan a lot more than South Korea because of the vibe, cleanliness and scenery, even though they love their k-dramas. We found a random ramen store for lunch.
The next day, we took a bus out of Shinjuku’s hub to Chiba to visit my parent’s friend. The ride was 1.5 hours direct. In Chiba, we went to Mitsui Outlet Park Makuhari, a major shopping outlet with 150 stores. We had Matcha-Ya as a quick snack and for dinner, we had shabu shabu. We didn’t get back to Tokyo until 9 PM.

On our final day, after checking out at 11 AM, I wanted to go to Tsukiji Market however it was pouring and we didn’t want to drag our luggage with us. We ended up heading for Haneda Airport way too early for our 9 PM flight and hung out at the airport for ~7 hours 😭😭😭 Regretsssss. I’m glad my family got to visit Japan though.

Thanks for reading. Jaa-ne! 😘
