SHOP225

This small Italian restaurant was voted the no.1 best pizza shop in Australia so of course, since moving to Melbourne, we’ve eaten here every fortnight 😂. In all seriousness, it’s that good – to the point where it’s making me, the mushroom-hater, eat mushrooms with joy.

P.S. The one thing all these pizzas have in common is it tastes like a sourdough pizza.

Food

This first pizza was a special in May. we were suckered by the duck and anchovies but it was not a good combo. It ended up being really dry. I don’t have an exact ingredient list because it was written on the blackboard, but the crust was hella good.
This was the 2803, a pomodoro, fior di latte, grilled eggplant, salami, zucchini, mushrooms and spinach. It was on the May menu. We chose this for the eggplants and dayum, I don’t know how he does it but the chef makes those vegetables taste so savoury and delicious.
As you can see, we have eaten the iconic 2807 a lot. Every time we go, we get it. It’s a signature fior di latte, mushroom cream, pork sausage, porcini, parsley, grana padano and truffle oil.

Everything about this pizza is an Italian dream: thin fluffy crust, with an impact of flavours, a good balance of cheese pulls and moist mushrooms. When you first bite into the mushrooms, it bursts and for a second, you’re under the impression you’re eating a chunk of foie gras. That’s how good this mushroom pizza is – and I crave it every time 😂

Also featured once is their lasagna – a meaty bite, filled with the right balance of bolognese sauce, besciamella and grana pandano. It was $30 and lasted me 3 meals.
This was the caprese salad $20, with a whole Italian Bufalo mozzarella 125g served with fresh tomatoes, roquette, basil, extra virgin olive oil and oregano. It was light and tasty.
Our favourite salad is the insalata della casa $18, a roquette, spinach and radicchio served with cherry tomatoes, baby fennel, cashews with a basalmic glaze dressing.
We did try this fettuccine mare e monti for $45. It was home-made fettuccine with wagyu meatballs, mini lobster, prawns and calamari served with bisque butter sauce. It was really good, with tender protein. We did think the meatballs were raw, but some appeared that way due to the cooking method and the chef’s intention to keep them as tender as possible.
This was gnocchi chips, homemade gnocchi fried served with tomato sauce. They tasted like savoury mochi balls and were delightful.
The tiramisu was delicious!! All the mascarpone was around the centre, so when you cut into it with your spoon, it oozed out wonderfully.

Service

The service has been fantastic all 3 times we’ve visited so far. They crack jokes, check in on you, and clear plates in a timely manner.

Review

We can see how they were voted number 1 in Australia. On top of a delicious menu, they have also consistently delivered in service and ambience.

We will be back.
Thanks for reading. Happy eating!
