Hash Specialty Coffee

EDIT 02/01/2021: We revisited Hash yesterday and unfortunately, this time around it was not as great as the following review. We only ordered a Shakshuka and two coffees between us and it took them 40 minutes to remember we were still sitting there twiddling our thumbs. Also, the shakshuka was quite average. We’re quite disappointed with the service and food and how fast things declined in three years 😕. Hopefully, they’ll improve in the future.

Read on for the 2018 review:
If you have ever been to Melbourne, you would’ve heard of Hardware Street, famous for many good cafes like Hardware Societe and White Rabbit. We were walking by looking for a quick lunch one Sunday in 2018 when we realised these two cafes were packeddd 😣. We had a flight to catch and due to our own hangovers, we weren’t too keen on the queues.

A server at Hash Specialty cafe, next door, waved us over, offered us samples of their cold brew and invited us inside. It was such an unexpected and friendly encounter, we had to give it a try.

This was their drink special of the day. Unfortunately, we forgot the full details of the drink. It was a fresh, cold tea that tasted like a pina colada. The fairy floss melted away when we poured in the floral tea. It was very sweet and super delicious. And the theatrics was fun too!

FOOD

We were sad about our hungovers because that meant we couldn’t eat much 😟 We only got the potato dauphine to share. It was made of curried cauliflower, kale, quinoa salad, toasted almonds, poached egg, and mignonette dressing. The egg was definitely egg porn – perfect, runny with slight buoyancy. The hollandaise sauce was not overwhelming. The curried cauliflower was soft, like a cloud, with a mild taste.

Service

Like we said earlier, they lured us in with free coffee 🤣 Service was great. We wanted to order more but we knew it’d be a waste of food and money.

REVIEW

For such a random lunch, we sure had a good time. We’re looking forward to going back to try other dishes on their menu.

Thanks for reading. Happy eating!

Wow, incredible blog structure! How long have you been blogging for? you make running a blog glance easy. The whole look of your site is magnificent, let alone the content material!!
