We thought we found our pho spot in Melbourne but I mentioned Pho Kim Long (LINK) tasted a bit diluted to the famous Sydney Pho An (LINK) however, finally, we have found another contender.
Pho Thanh Long is a Vietnamese restaurant in Maribyrnong, sharing a joint restaurant space with a hotpot restaurant. It was a very odd layout, with a dingy kitchen and bathroom but you know what they say for Asian restaurants: the dirtier, the tastier LOL.

Food
This pho (beef noodle soup) was a serious beast. The broth was rich and decadent even though it was clear. The noodles were probably one of the freshest pho noodles we’ve had in Melbourne – this is a problem we’ve noticed across the whole city. They do not have the same noodle supplier Sydney has and it has made cooking pho suck hard.
The bowl comes with plentiful handfuls of herbs and sirloin cuts, as well as a thick chunks of brisket. The msg use was manageable. It is currently our favourite spot for a beefy recovery bowl.

We tried their cơm tấm as well because they have a limited menu (6 items). This one is similar to Tan Thanh Loi (LINK), but its downside was the fish sauce. The pork chop was cut too thick and needed to be tenderized more. Also, it was a microwaved egg. Why can’t Melbourne Vietnamese restaurants FRY their eggs? 😭😭😭
Service
The service was as expected of an Asian restaurant. Fast and cleaner than Vietnam lol. We were also the only people eating on a Monday during the afternoon (2pm).
Review
Yes we will return for the pho only.
Thanks for reading. Happy eating.
