Nico’s Sandwich

Nico’s Sandwich is a little hole-in-the-wall sandwich shop, located in Brunswick East, and expanded to two other locations in Melbourne. We visited at 9:30am and were told there were only 4 items we could pick from, so we ended up waiting around til 10am for the full menu.

Food

And it was so worth it!

This was the little chicken sanga, a $13 “snack”; a fried chicken with yuzukosho mayo, dill pickle, and heaps of white pepper on demi brioche. The chicken was thick and juicy, with the perfect amount of fried batter and seasoning. The bread was soft and airy. And the sourness from the pickles and mayo were the perfect balance of zang to the bite.
We ordered the tuna melt $18.50 while we waited til 10am. This was tuna, capers, whole egg mayo, pickle, Swiss and American cheese on free-form sourdough. It was delicious – again, a good balance of everything without an overpowering fishy taste.
These were some of the best chips I’ve ever had. This was hot and salty chips with lunch sauce dipper for $9. Perfectly fried, crispy, with softest potato-inside. And the seasoning 🤤🤤

Review

This was a great sandwich spot, on par with Hector’s Deli (LINK). We will definitely return.

Thanks for reading. Happy eating!
