We started driving at 7:00 AM on 23rd of January 2019 with one unanimous goal in mind: to get fucked up this weekend. The car ride was a dry scenic view, with cattle and kangaroo spotting along the way. The trip was 9 hours long in total, split between 4 people. We arrived to Melbourne at 5:00 PM.

Our first Airbnb was amazing.

It was a 2 bedroom apartment, located 10 mins subway or 25 mins walk from Bourke Street. Each room had air conditioning. The bed was comfortable, firm and we had no back pain in the mornings. The apartment fit 15 people easily. There were a lovely balcony and an outdoor terrace.

We paid $850 for our 3-night stay there (so ~$200 each). We would definitely stay here again.

Our second Airbnb was located in a unilodge, 5 min walk from everything. It was $120 a night, shared between Mick and me. This Airbnb was clean, the size was reasonable, however, we found the decorations a little creepy. Since it was located in a unilodge, the smell in the elevator/corridors was heavy of sweat and curry.

We also received a noise complaint at 7 PM on a Sunday night (of a public holiday weekend), which was odd since we only had 5 people in the apartment talking about our lives. We definitely would not stay here again.

We tend to fly down to Melbourne a few times a year for music festivals. This weekend, we ate a lot of food, visited friend’s places, got really wasted and went to see Sean Tyas (a well known trance artist). We did not see Escher x Nendo exhibit at the National Gallery of Victoria due to the queue, price and time frame. Here is a photo of our shenanigans:

Sometimes it’s nice to sit down and enjoy the simple things in life, like drinking and playing board games with your friends.

We highly recommend Ultimate Werewolf! It’s the epitome of friendship-ending games. It’s a savage role-playing game where you will be discussing/yelling at your friends why you are a good or bad character. It’s super fun, especially mixed with alcohol LOL.

Our drive home was harder because it was only me and Mick. It can be tiring as you have to try to stay awake, even as a passenger. When you’re on cruise control for 100km/hr on a straight road, it can get tedious so we recommend having at least 3 people in the car for the drive.

Our next trip to Melbourne will not be for a while so until then, thanks for reading!
