Osaka Castle

One of the most iconic tourist hot spots to visit in Japan is the Osaka Castle, known for its beautiful teal architecture and lush greenery. We’ve visited today and here are some spots we found for the most unique photos.
The tour of Osaka Castle starts on the top floor, about 7 flight of stairs upwards. If the queue is not too long, take the elevator line to start the tour. I wanted to burn some thigh fat so I took the stairs for a quick sweaty workout.
The standard photo everyone takes at Osaka castle is right at the front, like me in 2017. Without a wide-eye lens, these photos can make the subject appear stubby and short, and diminish the details of the castle.
I’m going to use the main square (where there are always hundreds of tourists taking photos) as a reference point. To find this spot, walk to the left side of the main area, down the road. There is an electricity box here where I placed your tripod on for this shot. If you’re travelling with someone, utilise them 😋
Keep walking along the road until it steers left around this lake. This is an iconic spot for photographers and tour guides to go to for their shot.

There is a small ledge on the right side of this lake that when positioned correctly, the subject appears to be the only person in the photo with the castle. Lots of instagrammers like to wake up at sunrise for this shot. This can only be achieved with a photographer and subject, hence the lack of my own version of it.
If you turn 180 degrees from the lake, you’ll see stairs leading up to the walled fence. You can take this shot of Osaka Castle from the top of the stairs, with the help of some jackets / bag to elevate the hand tripod.
Finally, on the left side of the lake, there is this small pathway leading to the castle. There is another electric box for your hand tripod, although, if you’ve got a travel buddy, you could probably get a better shot than this.

Remember to be patient for your desired no-tourist photo. Thanks for reading! Gonna end the post with some mochi 🍓
