If it is one thing Melbourne does right, it is their baked goods and pastry game. Located in a little hole-in-the-wall in Brunswick (and other locations: Fitzroy, Richmond, Hawthorn), is Mile End Bagels, a small cafe specializing in some amazing bagel sandwiches.
Food
This was the Brisket pastrami with hot ‘n’ sweet mustard, cream cheese & pickles for $17. It was a beast of a bagel, stuffed to the brim with protein and pickles.
The bagel was dense, while also being airy at the same time. The crust was a tad too thick, making the bagel more “crunchy” than a “crispy crust” so if we had a bite that was too big, it became a bit awkward to work through the bagel to the filling in the mouthfeel.

The egg salad, tasty cheese, green tomato chutney, rocket & dijon for $14.50 was also filling, savoury and balanced with creaminess, sweetness and sourness. It was very messy to eat but the mouthfeel was a bit better due to the creamy goo vs the crunchy bagel.
Review
I ordered 30 minutes before getting there, and had to wait another 10 minute to finally pick up the order. Overall, not a bad spot.
We want to return to try their extra hot pastrami bagel but otherwise, our favourite bagel shop is Bagels Baby (LINK).
Thanks for reading. Happy eating.
