Master Lanzhou Beef Noodle

One of the simple pleasures in life is a bowl of tender beef and hand-pulled noodles ๐Ÿœ.

We stopped by Master Lanzhou Beef Noodles during today’s Chadstone shopping trip and had some delicious and authentic Chinese food, derived from Lanzhou, Northwest China. This is a rudimentary review.

Food

The spicy pig ears ($8.80) was delish for such a simple concept. These boiled ears were gelatinous and chewy, with intensely sweet pork flavour. My lips were burning after 3 ears so tread carefully for those who cannot handle spice ๐Ÿฅต.
This was a simple and refreshing shredded cucumber with sauce for $5.80. Self-explanatory; the sauce was a sweet soy flavour.
This was another lip burning dish, the soy sauce beef slice in garlic and chilli oil for $9.80. The beef was chewy in this thin form. I enjoyed the capsicum because they were a bit cooling, despite being covered in spicy sauce. Everyone else loved the beef ๐Ÿฅต.
I enjoyed this boiled chicken with chilli oil sauce for $8.80. When the chicken was not drenched in the spice, it was moist and tender and flavourful. Everyone else loved the accompanied sauce because it added the extra oomph ๐Ÿ˜‚.
The good thing about the main bowls was that we could pick the type and softness of the noodles. Ea ordered the homemade braised beef noodle soup with wider noodles for $12.80.
I got the special beef noodles with triangular noodles for $14.80. This was comforting and the perfect hangover dish (other than phแปŸ). The noodles were soft and chewy. The beef was tender and full of flavour. The garnish added that fresh, earthy element. And the soup was savoury and, thankfully, not spicy ๐Ÿ˜….
Mick ordered the spicy and numb beef noodle soup for $13.80. He said it was moderately spicy, savoury and delicious.
I forgot which bowl A got but this eating machine smashed down her bowl and finished all 3 of ours – there wasn’t even any soup left ๐Ÿคฏ

Service

This was a standard Chinese restaurant. After they cooked our food, they left us alone to eat in peace and then cleaned up after us.

Review

This is one of those cuisines we will always have random cravings for so the likelihood of us eating here again is very high, even if we had any faults from this meal. There are a lot of Lanzhou style restaurants in Melbourne and Sydney so if one doesn’t please the tongue, we would move on and try another one ๐Ÿ˜†.

Thanks for reading. Merry Christmas and happy eating!!
