Masonry

Masonry is a modern steak restaurant in Bali, Indonesia. We dined as a really big group so we were forced into the set menu. It was about $80AUD.

Set Menu

We started with marinated green olives, hummus and burnt chilli butter, crispy bits, baba ganoush and crispy onions, and sweet corn croquettes. The hummus was unique, as the crispy bits – chicken? – added a lot of dimension to the bite.
We also had yellow fin tuna, roasted pineapple, nahm jim, tostada to share. This was fresh with a balance of citrus.
This was sweet corn croquettes. Crispy, with a smooth filling.
For our mains, we had wood roasted barramundi fillet with smoked tomato and cardamon.
This was charcoal chicken with gravy, aioli and lemon.
The potato puree was almost like an espuma, very light with a wet-creamy texture. The creamed corn had oregano and basque pepper. The green beans was cooked with shallots and pumpkin seed dressing.
This was a 200 day grain fed ribeye with roasted garlic and parsley butter, with beef jus. There was a taste to the parsley butter and we weren’t sure if it was the local produce of parsley or if there was another hidden ingredient. It tasted like orange but we couldn’t pinpoint it.
Our dessert was a pavlova with raspberry, mascarpone and vanilla ice cream.
