Casa Dorita

Yesterday we landed in Barcelona with eager eyes and largened appetites, excited to indulged on tapas, Jamon Iberico and sangria. We were exploring the neighbourhood by foot and stumbled upon Casa Dorita; a cosy restaurant with warm vibes and a garden for their own produce. It was an amazing eye-opener to what Barcelona had to offer.

Location: Calle Tamarit, 142, 08015 Barcelona, Spain.

Food

We ordered 3 coquette croquette for 1.40€ each. Our memories are hazy but we’re quite sure we got one crab, one mushroom and one cod flavour. The filling was rich and creamy. It was not too salty and the batter was not overwhelming.
This was the surfer prawn lollipops with a special sauce and citrus mayonnaise for 9€. Crispy, thin batter encasing fresh, creamy prawns made for a delicious entree. The sauce added a nice kick – not that these prawns needed the help 😋
This was the cod loins cooked at a low temperature with smooth aioli mousse. Soft and moist, the fish had a slimy mouthfeel with savoury flavours. The salty potatoes elevated the aioli on the fish by contrasting the paste with its starchiness.
We got the bermeo salad which comprised of tuna confit, garden tomato, and tender green onions. It had acidic flavouring that we were not accustomed to (as we don’t have Mediterranean food often). But the tomatoes were fresh and juicy and really worked everything together – it definitely tasted like it came straight from their garden.
This delicious oven-grilled pork “feather” loin in rosemary with rustic potatoes was only 11€. Slightly charred with a salty coating, the pork was well cooked for our Spanish feast. I love potatoes and could not help chowing down on the spuds here that were so damn soft with that addicting salty kick.
From the specialist butcher’s menu, we ordered Iberian ham cake, brie and arugula. It was delicious. It had a slightly salty, cured flavour with thin, wispy textures. The meat went really well with the soft dough of the bread and the acidity of the arugula.

Service

We had a really sweet and friendly waitress who catered to our broken Spanish and had the best recommendations. It was one of the best service we’ve ever experienced! The night was lit with our half a litre of sangria.

Review

Overall, we loved our dining experience at Casa Dorita and would highly recommend it to our friends if they’re ever planning to visit Barcelona.

Hope you like the read 😁
