Thai Town QV is a popping ‘street-food-style’ Thai restaurant in the heart of Melbourne CBD. They offer a wide variety of dishes, tailored more to mainland palates compared to Soi 38 READ HERE. The decor, vibes and atmosphere was a lot more vibrant and fun here, suitable for children.
We queued up at 6pm on a Friday night and saw a few empty tables. By 6:25pm, it was filled out so we recommend dining earlier. There’s also a 1.5 hr eating window.

Food
We had to try the thai boat noodle soup $16.90 with beef. This was thin rice noodles with stewed beef, with fishcakes and herbs. The broth is infused with pig blood, giving it that rich dark colour and flavour. It was delicious.
This papaya salad (thai style) for $16.90 was fresh and chilli. It’s a blend of green papaya, cherry tomatoes, snake bean, dried shrimp, peanuts, lime juice, fish sauce and palm sugar.
This grilled marinated pork cheeks for $16.90 was sooo tender and scrumptious. The charred flavour was noticeable, served with dried chilli and tamarind relish.
We also got Thai Northern Style sausage for $13.90. This was okay.
The fried rice with pineapple for $25.90 was good, slightly on the blander side. The pineapple was not strong within the rice. You had to eat the pineapple pieces to get a taste of it.
This was grilled marinated pork neck for $16.90. Again, delicious and lots of flavour, with a chewier texture than the pork cheeks.
This was the king prawn creamy tom yum soup for $22.90. Indeed, very creamy with a undertone of chilli.
This was prawn sashimi with spicy chilli fish sauce for $22.90 and man, it was spicy. But much needed to balance the rawness.
The cocktails were really creative, strong and delicious here.
Service
The service was very efficient for such a big and busy restaurant. We felt seen, despite being in the back corner in the dark.
Review
We really liked dining here and would consider coming back, if it’s an early dining time. We would not wait in line to here.
Thanks for reading. Happy eating.
