Seoul, South Korea 2017

We went to South Korea last month. It was a fun 10 days in Seoul and our first international vacation together. At the time, I was filming on go pro more so these were the only clear, pretty photographs we got 😄.

GYEONGBOKGUNG PALACE

It was -2 degrees Celsius and we decided to dress up in hanboks, the traditional Korean formal attire. There were a few of these stores outside the palace so we picked the closest one and went in. It was ~$60 AUD for the day (I think) but I know some places have a time limit so make sure you shop around for the best price.

Now the palace was another story. It was absolutely magical 🥰. The moment we stepped inside, the city disappeared around us. Maybe it had something to do with the still coldness of the air, or the lack of tourists (since it was middle of Winter), or our beautiful outfits, but those 3 hours spent roaming the palace felt so peaceful and time warping.

Lotte World

Lotte World theme park is inside a stadium, located in the middle of Seoul and all I can say is be prepared to wait in queue for hours. Even though it was winter, it was packed with locals and tourists. Most rides were at least an hour wait. We only went on the spinning teapot game at 11am and we were over the 45-minute queue. Koreans love waiting…

There were a lot of interactive things to do instead, such as trick art museums, folk art museums, insect galleries, shows, parades and food stalls to try so it didn’t feel like we wasted our day there 😄. Unfortunately, the rides outside were closed due to the weather.
This was cheesey tteobokki – our first meal in Seoul. I wish we took photos of all the meals we had there. Our favourites food aspects were:

  • Snow cheese fried chicken 🍗
  • The service at all KBBQ
  • Cheap soju and drinks ($1 a bottle! 😍)
  • Myeongdong Night Market
  • San-nakji (live octopus!!) 🐙 – this was so interesting because it kept moving and sticking to the inside of our mouths but we enjoyed the soft chewiness of its tentacles
  • Chilli in everything – perfect for the cold weather

N Seoul Tower

This was taken on top of the Namsam Tower. Hopefully, we can find our locks again.

Thanks for reading this small post. I wish we took more photos instead of our lame attempt at a vlog 😅 I’ll be going back soon so get ready for some proper photos!
