We stumbled upon this little wine bar in Windsor, and ended up having some of the best conversations with the owner Mu. She’s of Hong Kong background, studied in France as a Sommelier, and moved to Australia where she opened Mu Noir in 2024. Her food is a fusion of Asian x Western. She also has her own wines, specifically pinot noirs.
Food
The pan-seared scallops $27 was tender and buttery, perfectly caramelised on the outside. The XO sauce with garlic and spring onions had added a rich, savoury kick that made the dish irresistibly delicious.
This was the cumin braised lamb ribs for $24. It was served with cumin, cucumber, red wine reduction. We thought the ribs needed more salt and cumin to balance out the sweet wine jus, but otherwise enjoyable.
This dessert was amazing! A pinot noir poached pear for $16, with ice cream and crunchy nuts. The poached pear was so good, balanced out by the nuts. The ice cream would have been better if it wasn’t Bulla vanilla ice cream 😂.
Drinks
The wines were definintely the highlight of this meal.
