We cannot believe this is only a POP UP store at the time of writing this review because how will we get our hands on the most JUICIEST and FLAVOURFUL FRIED CHICKEN in Melbourne? This pop up happened at Fenton in Carlton, Melbourne.

While there, we got to chat with the owner of Beyond the Glass (LINK), a small winery start up with some of the freshest wines we’ve had in a long time. He’s also a dog lover – vibesssss. We love the Oats (Riesling) 2024. It went really well with the fried chicken.

Food

This was the ChickyBoi OG for $19. It was a stunning OG seasoned fried chickem with dill ranch, lettuce and dill pickles on a steamed brioche bun. The chicken was so juicy, but on its own it was not as show-stopping as the next burger. The dill sauce really carried this bite, with the most perfect balance of freshness, earthiness and creaminess.
This was the perfect chicken sanga! The Fenton Chilli Lips Glaze for $21. 🤤🤤🤤

Mick was never a fan of chicken sanga but this changed our perspective. The chicken fillet was dripping juicy and perfectly tender. The batter was crunchy and satisfying, but not so over-fried that when combined with their crack Chilli Lips Glaze sauce was enough to tenderise the fried crust for that amazing bite.

This sanga was well balanced in taste as the sauce was spicy and salt, while the refreshing crunch of the coleslaw and mango chutney provided a sweet undertone. All this goodness inside that soft buttery brioche bun was just too good! 🤤
We also got the large wing plate $29 with 14 wings coated in Chilli Lips Buffalo, sauce, blue cheese ranch and celery sticks. Each piece was succulent, with the right amount of fried batter oozing in the same addicting spicy/salty sauce. It was so good, we licked every bone like savages 🤤😂.
