Blood’s Bakery

Blood’s Bakery is a preorder home bakery in Sydney. They are popular for creating country-inspired pastries, releasing new menu items every week on Instagram. They also offer delivery (extra $10-$20) and pick up in the CBD. We got 4 for $62.

Food

The first item on the menu that caught our attention was the unagi tart for $15. This was both our favourites and something we would definitely order again. It was a flavourful umami bomb, with tender and savoury eel, flakey and soft pastry, earthy sprinkles of green onions and fragrant sesame.
The milo caramel croissant for $8 was a little … mehhh. The croissant itself was beautiful, flakey on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. The filling did not have a strong milo or caramel taste, but rather more of a light milk chocolate flavour. It was moderately sweet and creamy, filled to the brim. This was our least favourite.
The blue pea flower and coconut pudding for $15 had an even distribution of both flavours: being floral and sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed the blue dip. They provided three times the amount of sauce required. The pudding pastry was, again, flakey on the exterior, with this soft, cake-like texture inside. It was unique and delicious, and very enjoyable soaking up the sauce with the pudding.
Finally, the salted duck egg yolk for $8 was a choux au craquelin. This is a French dessert made from choux pastry and a cookie-like dough on top. Despite reheating it the next day, thIs still maintained a crunch, followed by a mouthful of creamy, moderately salted, egg yolk. It was a nice contrast of sweet and savoury ingredients.

Review

We both loved Bloods Bakery and are looking forward to their future menus. Picking up our order was very easy and probably our future preferred method. The unagi tart is one we would order again.

Happy eating! 😘
