Juifen is an iconic spot in Taiwan, known as the inspiration for Spirited Away. It gets very crowded, EVERY night, so be wary when traveling here at sunset. The narrow alleyways of Old Street are just asking for a stampede to happen…. (see photos)
We recommend forking the money to uber directly here from Taipei (45 minute ride) as we got lost taking the public transport, despite the PT being quieter than usual. Most of the crowds also took tour buses to Juifen in advance so it was a slap in the face to see so many people here already haha. The uber was only $60 (pre standard compared to Sydney).
We also had tea at Amei Teahouse. This was a 10 minute wait.
Overall, it was serene. Bucket list item ticked. We would not return.
