Borough Market

Borough Markets is one of the oldest and largest wholesale and retail markets in London. We visited on Monday and there was a whole variety of food and drinks, and some of them were sooooo good!! 🤤
From our first store, we got a mac and cheese with pulled pork for £6.50. The cheese sauce was really creamy and rich. The pulled pork was very tender and full of flavour, oozing with its juices 😋. It was a good portion of food and if we were not eating to our max capacities, I would have liked to fill up on this.
We also got gumbo for £7 from the same store. Gumbo is a recognized Louisiana dish of pulled pork, bacon, chicken, peppers, onions, spice and fermented chilli, cooked low and slow and served on a big ciabatta roll. All the bits and pieces were tender and mushy. The roll had a nice crunch and paired well with the savouriness of the gumbo. It was a bit messy to eat.
There was a Pieminister and we got a blue and moo pie. The beef was tender and well seasoned. The blue cheese brought out a mild sweetness and creamy texture to the inside. The pastry was flakey, crispy, and held its shape well.
Nothing beats a fresh doughnut 🤤 This was the vanilla creme and it tasted like a piece of heaven! The dough was soft and warm, with the right amount of sprinkled sugar. The vanilla creme was light and balanced out the texture.

Look at all the seafood! We didn’t expect to come across this in gloomy London 😂. We queued for 15 mins to get these bad boys. The sea urchin was huge and creamy, with no oceanic aftertaste. The oysters had a mild sweetness with the subtle brininess.
We had a sniff of the truffles on display. The English truffles had a very mild aroma compared to Australian ones.
Of course, we got a small bowl of this paella. This is a traditional Spanish rice dish. It was very flavourful with a subtle sweetness. Oysters were dried and slightly salty. Prawns were luscious and juicy.
This was a grilled prawn salad. It was a very simple dish. The prawns were savoury, balanced well by the fresh veggies. This would be a good on-the-go snack if we lived in London.
This was a duck wrap, recommended by our friend N. It was so damn delicious! 😍 The wrap was a huge serving. The duck was grilled, slightly charred, with a scrumptious salty sauce. The red cabbage added a sour flavour to the bite. This wrap was £9.
Overall we loved Borough Markets. It was such a fun place to explore and eat. There were so many different stalls, from soul food to meat pies. They even had a cheese stall. We would definitely go back next time.

Happy eating! 😆
