Gometai

Hawaii is known as Japan 2.0 as many Japanese people migrated here, bringing with them their delicious culinary food. It’s no surprise we maximised our eating capacity by eating as many Japanese cuisines as possible, including this ramen from Gomatei – a restaurant located in the Ala Moana Shopping centre.
This was their standard gyoza for $8.50USD. It had a moderate savoury porky flavour, with garlic, chives and MSG. The pastry was soft and chewy. The best part was the chilli oil. Overall: simple and delicious.
We came for the spicy tan tan ramen. This was a creamy sesame-flavoured broth with soft, chewy egg noodles, tender char siu (caramelized pork belly) and bok choy. This was heaven 😋. It was a good balance of sweet and umami. The milky peanut flavour was also very addicting, making us want to come back for more. It was my first time trying tan tan ramen and I’m hooked.

Service

The service was ok.

Review

We’ll never return to this restaurant (because our next Hawaii trip will have other foods) but we did get a new fond love for tan tan ramen out of this visit.

Thanks for reading.
