We were craving seafood today and had a delicious meal at Fishing Lab Alle Murate in Florence, Italy. The restaurant had a 4.4-star rating from 2000+ reviews on Google so we trusted the internet strangers and went to eat.
Entrée
This was the risotto arancino balls for 4€. They had a beautiful crispy texture with a creamy, soft filling. The batter was not too oily nor dry. This was satisfying to eat with a dash of tomato sauce. The chips on the side were thick, starchy and soft. This was a great appetiser to the meal.
This was large shrimps for 2€ per serving. As you can see, they’re not that large 🥺. Besides the size and value, we did enjoy the taste of the grilled shrimp. There was a nice, smokey profile mixed in with the creaminess of the crustacean. If these shrimps had been larger, it would have been a lot more satisfying to suck on.
We can’t seem to find this dish on the menu but this was red prawns served with salad. Nothing to comment on for the vegetables, just a lot of freshness and water droplets. The prawns were delicious, creamy, compact with flavour. It was a bit saddening when we realised we could only have one each.
Main Course
This was a grilled whole sea-bass, with roasted potatoes. This was a very simple and nice dish. We could taste the freshness of the fish. The charcoal flavouring on the skin was crispy, well salted. But not going to lie, Vietnamese sea-bass is done better because you can taste the thick, umami flesh of the fish 😉.
Service
Service was great. There was a casual and relaxed vibe about this restaurant.
Review
We thought the food was a great value for money. It was a chilled spot, perfect for travellers looking for an extensive menu, with aperitif options, and drinks. We had a great time eating here.
