We are on the hunt for the best lasagna in Melbourne and when we heard about this 100-layer beast, we knew we had to try it. Ladro is an Italian restaurant in Fitzroy, serving woodfire pizza and pasta. We walked in at 5pm on a Friday.
Food
This 100 layer lasagna for $30 was home made pasta, bolognese, bechamel, parmesan and mozzerella dish. It is definitely more of a meaty lasagna than a béchamel one. The bolognese was savoury with a good depth of richness. The pasta was so fresh, with a soft mouthfeel. It was delicious, perfectly cooked! 🤤
The only critic is Xtiner wishes there was more béchamel sauce because halfway through eating it, she got really full and then it became a mission to finish the dish. She would still come back and order this again.

Mick ordered the moreton bay bug risotto for $44. It was carnaroli rice, crustacean bisque, bug meat and chiili. It was very flavourful and delicious, receiving a nod of approval from Mick. The risotto was also cooked perfectly, chewy with a bounce. The bug was tender, its sweet and rich flavour elevating the pasta.
Service
The service was great, although we were there at opening so there weren’t many patrons dining at the time.
Review
Ladro is famous for their wood-fired pizzas so we want to come back to try the bababing (pork and fennel sausage pizza) 🤤.
