After moving from warm Sydney to four-seasons Melbourne at the start of the Winter, we felt the cold down to our bones. So when this new ramen joint opened up, we knew we had to try it out, especially after the disaster of Ramen Ako READ HERE.
Food
The chao sui baos were delicious: each one in a soft, pillow-like bao with a flavourful bomb of tender meats, creamy egg and earthy toppings.
This is their signature spicy miso ramen for $30. This is how a ramen should be done, although nothing compared to Mensho Tokyo.
It arrived steaming hot, its rich broth infused with layers of umami and a fiery kick from their signature chili blend. Thick, chewy noodles soaked up the deep miso flavour, while tender slices of pork melted effortlessly with each bite. Topped with fresh greens, bean sprouts, and a dusting of numbing Sichuan pepper, it had delivered both heat and heartiness in perfect balance.

I wanted to try something different but this was a little regretful because it wasn’t as amazing as their ramen. This was their karashibi miso tsukmen $25 but there was no side broth, so really, just a “dry ramen“.
The bowl had thick, springy noodles served alongside a bold, peppery seasoning bursting with miso richness and chili heat. Each bite had been an addictive mix of chewy texture and deep, spicy-savoury flavour that lingered long after the last mouthful. Wish there was a side bowl of broth to go with it.

Service
The service was ok. You order and pay, then wait for your food. The server staff seem a bit lost. The kitchen was efficient.
Review
This was a hearty meal, perfect for the Melbourne cold. There’s no booking and the restaurant is tiny, so we recommend heading there early as the queue builds up fast.
