EatAlley is located in the busy QV, designed to serve Malaysian hawker style food true to their heritage. We were recommended by a friend to try their bah kut teh. It was the only good dish lol.
Food
The Signature Braised Duck in Herbal Sauce for $25.90 had a pleasant aroma but the herbal flavours were a bit underwhelming. The duck was a bit tough and chewy. The set with fragrant rice, salted mustard greens, and braised egg made for a comforting but fairly standard meal. We were quite disappointed on this one.
The Bah Kut Teh Soup Set Meal for $28.90 was hearty and aromatic, with tender pork, earthy enoki mushrooms, and tofu puffs soaking up the rich herbal broth beautifully. The sides of boiled lettuce with oyster sauce was kind of plain, and crispy Chinese doughnuts reminded me of my childhood, making this a much more enjoyable dish than the other one. Is it enough to make us come back though? Probably not. We can cook a more flavourful one at home.
Service
The service was average. They kept pushing us to use their QR code for ordering (despite only a half full restaurant) and when we told them there was no signal + their website seemed to be down on both our phones, they kept retrying the QR system on their phone before giving up, and just taking our order manually with pen and paper. I understand the new age but man, what happened to customer service. There’s too much reliance on a system that clearly has flaws lol.
