Ton & Co

Ton&Co is a popular Japanese eatery in Windsor, Melbourne, known for their pork katsu. They have a strict 80 minute dining window, and are always booked out. We had to make a reservation for 5pm on a Friday.

Food

This ox tongue skewers for $16.50 was to die for. It was an 18-hour slow cooked ox tongue with the softest, bounciest texture, marinated in tare, togarashi and sesame oil.
We got the pork rib eye cut (300g) with tonkatsu sauce, dark miso sauce and kaki for $35.50. The pork was sooooo tender and juicy, probably one of the best katsus we’ve had in Australia. The batter was moderate, holding on to the meat well while still retaining its crispiness. It paired beautifully with the rich tonkatsu and deep umami of the dark miso sauce.

The addition kaki was plump with umami inside its own katsu batter, giving a subtle sweetness that balanced the dish perfectly.
This was the additional rice and miso soup set for $5. Warm and comforting.

Review

It’s a very small space, bustling with people. AS you can see, this is the angle from the front door. The katsu was fantastic but I don’t know if we would have time to dine in for it again. We would probably return for takeaway.

Thanks for reading. Happy eating!
