Shandong Mama is an OG Chinese restaurant in Melbourne, having won a few good food awards in the past. It’s a spot we go to for reliable good Shanghai dumplings.
Food
The hot and sour soup for $14 was rich and comforting, with tender pork, crunchy bamboo shoots, earthy black fungi, and silky strands of egg balancing its tangy-spicy broth.
This was wagyu beef pot stickers for $25.80. This was 10 pieces of minced beef, spring onions and secret sauce, fried in a dumpling stick. It was juicy and flavourful, with a golden crisp base that complemented the tender, savoury filling.
The wasabi spinach for $14.50 was crisp and refreshing, with a sharp heat that lifted the natural sweetness of the greens.
Service
This was standard Asian service: quick and non-interactive.
Review
This is a reliable food spot that we would come back.
